Workers’ Day: We Need to Stay Alive While We Work – Dr. Ajibade, SAN

My fellow workers,

Today’s celebration is quite ironic. The circumstances we live in today make it imperative that all of us, workers, are kept away from our workplace, most of us, from our work.

Some of us are fortunate enough to be able to practice our trade from home but others have had their work stalled by the virus.

Government announced this week about the gradual easing of movement and business but we all know that even as things are being eased, the hardships continue.

Some of us have had to still work in the frontlines against the pandemic, despite the huge risk to their lives and those of their families. I salute you.

I also salute those who have had to fight this battle by staying at home despite the discomfort, financial and otherwise.

As we go out, from Monday, to provide a means to sustain families and the country’s economy, I urge us all to exercise caution.

Let us all follow the safety guidelines put in place by the government and medical personal. Wear a mask and practice good hygiene.

We need to stay alive while we work.

Happy international workers’ day.

Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, FCIArb
