I have read the report of the re-arrest of Emperor Ogbonna, a legal practitioner practicing in Aba, Abia State.
I have also read the publication authored by Mr. Kunle Edun, the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) dated the 29th of April, 2020, which states the position of NBA on this issue.
I have no doubt that the continued incaceration of Mr. Ogbonna is not for the prosecution of an offence but a persecution. It is unfortunate that the administration of criminal justice could be so treated with contempt. I align myself with the position of the NBA and call for the release of Mr. Ogbonna.
