Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, Partner at ALN Nigeria, Aluko & Oyebode, Chairman of the NBA-SARC, and former Chairman of NBA Lagos Branch attended the monthly meeting of the NBA Abeokuta Branch today, 29 May 2024.
The meeting, which took place at the NBA Abeokuta Branch Bar Centre, was presided over by the Chairman of the Branch, Mr. Bolarinwa Odeyale, and had the former Attorney General of Ogun State, Dr. (Chief) Olumide Ayeni, SAN, in attendance.
Mr. Ikwuazom reported on his stewardship of the NBA-SARC, noting that the committee has intervened in over fifty cases of assault and intimidation by security agencies against lawyers in the course of their work. The Learned Silk also spoke about the pilot NBA-SARC Townhall (West) meeting, which was successfully held in Lagos on 16 May 2024, urging members of the Abeokuta Branch to attend the forthcoming Townhall (East) meeting scheduled for 31 May 2024, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The NBA-SARC Chairman also informed members of the Abeokuta Branch about the NBA-SARC Litigation Assistance and Advisory Team set up to pursue court actions against security agencies at no cost to members of the Association in deserving cases.
Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, who has been cleared to run for the office of the President of the NBA, urged members at the meeting to use the NBA-SARC hotlines (07036278113 and 09028795675) to report cases of assault and harassment from security agencies to the Committee.
