The Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) has kick started her field tour as Ogunlana Adesina Ademola, the Chairman of the Movement visited Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State.
In a statement issued by
Ayo Ademiluyi, Secretary of the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Ogunlana arrived Kaduna in the early hours of Thursday, 27th August, 2020.
It will be recalled that RAMINBA fielded Ogunlana Adesina as Presidential aspirant in the last NBA 2020 Elections, wherein he was disqualified by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, which is now a subject of litigation at the High Court of Lagos State. All throughout the electoral campaign, RAMINBA stated its mission of rallying a
movement of lawyers that intervenes in the socio-economic situation of the country, both during and after elections.
Keeping true to its mission, RAMINBA has initiated a field trip , through which she will intervene in strategic areas and also meet up with like-minded legal practitioners, who are concerned about the debilitating state of the nation.
It is within this perspective that Mr. Ogunlana visited Kaduna City, home to the ailing heart of the Nigerian soul, Southern Kaduna.
His visit is taking place against the background of the ongoing Virtual 60th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, which started yesterday, Wednesday, 26th August, 2020.
It will also be recalled that the character of the Annual General Conference came under searchlight recently with the decision of the National Executive Committee to dis-invite Mallam Nasir El-rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State for adamant refusal to obey court orders and failure to curb the killings in Southern Kaduna.
While a lot of unnecessary ethnic and religious vitroil has trailed the historic decision of the NBA NEC, RAMINBA has welcomed it as a radical one. RAMINBA has also gone ahead to call for dis-invitation of infamous rule of law violators like Olusegun Obasanjo, Nyesom Wike and war criminals like Tony Blair of Britain invited to the NBA Conference.
The NBA NEC decision also spotlighted the Southern Kaduna crisis, which is being ignored by both the El-Rufai led Kaduna State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Mr. Ogunlana, while explaining the purpose of his visit to Kaduna stated that it is a symbolic intervention to draw the attention of all pro-people’s organisations in the country, including the Nigerian Bar Association to the Southern Kaduna Crisis.
He was of the view that the incoming Olumide Akpata-led national leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association must as a matter of priority, upon its swearing-in on Saturday, 29th August, 2020 move the National Secretariat of the Association to Southern Kaduna.
He stated further that the President-elect, Mr. Olumide Akpata in taking such a move will be building on past efforts in this direction such as the
visit of NBA National leadership in 2017 under the then President of the NBA, Abubakar B. Mahmoud, SAN, who led a delegation on a Fact Finding Mission to Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State. He recalled further that the working visit to Kaduna State led to the production of the NBA Comprehensive Fact Finding Mission Report on Southern Kaduna Crisis in 2017.
The said Report made recommendations on how to resolve the Southern Kaduna crisis.
Mr. Ogunlana took time to interact with like-minded legal practitioners in Kaduna State, who are enthusiastic about the ideas of the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association.
