In January 2021 International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, petitioned the Rivers State Police Command over the death of a final year student of Education at the Rivers State University, Beauty Nwigbarane.

She was said to have visited Pastor Masodje, who is suspected to be her lover on Christmas Day (December 25, 2020) and got missing and was later found dead. The story of circumstances surrounding her death is as contained in the attached petition. The story has been well publicised in the news but the family is yet to get any succour from Police investigation.
It was gathered that the family felt that the police unit in charge of the case being the Special investigation Bureau (SIB) was not handling the matter with the seriousness it deserves which led the man and his daughter to contact FIDA for assistance.

FIDA wrote the Commissioner of Police Rivers State to transfer the matter to SCIID to escalate the investigation, which was approved.
The SIB unit earlier refused to transfer the matter but later transfered the case file to State CID without transferring the Pastor to them.
Every particulars provided by the said Pastor Sodje Masodje in the bail papers proved to be incorrect and at such it is impossible for the SCIID to arrest or invite the said Pastor thereby stalling further investigation.
While the family thank the commissioner of Police for his prompt approval of the transfer request, the family will want the Matter escalated so that the Police will get to the root of the matter. More importantly, the family believes the Pastor, who is the prime suspect in the matter has a case to answer.
It as gathered that what the family wants is intervention of the IG and the further intervention of the Commissioner of Police to help bring detailed investigation.
The family wants the Police investigation show whether the Pastor is free from the allegation or not.
