I served with Bisi Makanjuola in the Dinner Planning Committee of the 2022 Annual Bar Dinner of the Premier Branch. Bisi in addition to being a member of the Committee, was also the Chairman of the Finance and Fundraising Subcommittee. From day one, you could see his deep passion and enthusiasm to work and deliver on the dinner.
As Chairman of the Finance and Fundraising Subcommittee, Bisi had very big shoes to fill in. His predecessors in office were legal giants. While Mr. Olaotan Ajose-Adeogun SAN was the Chair of the Finance and Fundraising Subcommittee of the 2021 Dinner Committee, Mr. Mark Mordi SAN was the alternate chairman of the same Subcommittee. It was like the proverbial “hard act to follow” but Bisi was not going to be deterred by this. He gave his very best and the dinner was a huge success.
Bisi’s Subcommittee raised over Fifty million naira and sourced two return tickets from Nigeria to any part of the world from sponsors. This was achieved in part by his leveraging on his relationships and connections and also the institutional support he was able to bring on board.
Bisi’s work in the 2022 Dinner Committee was not however restricted only to his role as Chair of the Finance and Fundraising Subcommittee as he made himself available in other areas. He attended without fail all but one meeting of the Dinner Planning Committee which was because he was bereaved.
I’m ecstatic about Bisi’s candidacy for the office of Chairman of our branch as I have no doubt that he will hit the ground running and deliver a truly Premier Branch.
