My first contact with Okey Ohagba was as students of the Nigerian Law School Lagos Campus in 2006 and we became very good friends.
Over the course of our friendship, I have come to know him as a very dutiful person with a burning desire for impactful excellence and innovation. Little wonder that shortly after our call, he became very interested in bar activism and has risen from the shining bar of Portharcourt to main stream Nigerian Bar Association.
Having served the bar in various capacities including representing the Nigerian Bar Association on the Board of the Corporate Affairs Commission wherein he championed the implementation of the CAC online platform in existence today and more particularly held office as First Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Bar wherein he made various innovations including delivering error proof minutes of meeting and introduction of the mailing system for minutes and NEC bundles, I believe an elevation to continue in service of the Bar as General Secretary of Nigerian Bar Association is only natural and most desirable.
Okey Ohagba brings with him valuable experience on the job. Having served as the National Secretary of the Young Lawyers’ Governing Council, Member National Executive Committee and Member of various committees both in the Portharcourt branch and the National NBA, Okey bridges the gap between old and young lawyers and represents the face of the new Secretariat, befitting for the Nigerian Bar Association.
I have no doubt in my mind that he will deliver on the job if given the opportunity.
Okey Ohagba is a creative thinker and the best man for the job.
