NBA Welfare Secretary, Chinyere Obasi, has taken out time to further sensitize members of the Bar on the NBA/NHIS-GIFSHIP Health Insurance package.
In a message tagged “ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NBA-NHIS -GIFSHIP SCHEME, the NBA executive detailed as follows:
The NBA/NHIS- GIFSHIP scheme is a Group, Individual and Family Social Insurance Programme that allows members of the Association who are in good standing (i.e. the payment of Bar Practicing Fees and Branch dues as and when due) enjoy 100% access to Primary, Secondary with just 10% charge on the cost of drugs, and about 50% cost of tertiary healthcare services across the NHIS accredited healthcare facilities at an affordable rate of Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000.00) per subscriber annually. The coverage for tertiary cases include surgeries & major investigations like MRI, CT SCAN, etc.
The Scheme also permits eligible members to register their dependants, friends, and family members under their coverage for the same N15,000 per person. The scheme currently has about a thousand, five hundred lawyers enjoying healthcare services nationwide with more registrations ongoing.
Non-legal staff of law offices are equally entitled to the scheme, but must pay the subsidized of N15,000.
Never in the history of the NBA has a package of this magnitude been put in place. It is a major leap in improving the welfare of members. It gives members of the bar a better sense of belonging, knowing full well that a major aspect of their health needs has been taken care of.
I therefore urge every member of the bar to key into this. This is more or less a giveaway package and no one should have any excuse not to take full advantage of same. Health remains the most valuable thing we posses as humans, we must prioritize it.
Interested members can access the NBA-NHIS services by filling the customized forms, make the payment of Fifteen thousand Naira, (per subscriber) into the designated account and attach the evidence of same which can be forwarded to the National Secretariat either by hard copy or electronically to the email address below;
