The Nigerian Bar Association – Security Agencies Relations Committee (NBA-SARC) vehemently condemns the heinous and unwarranted assault on a legal practitioner by a policeman attached to the State CID, Awka.
This brazen attack on a member of the legal community is a gross violation of human rights and a stark reminder of the escalating menace of police brutality in our country. The NBA-SARC demands immediate action from the relevant authorities to:
- Apprehend and prosecute the offending officer
- Provide adequate compensation to the victim
- Take concrete steps to address the systemic issues leading to such atrocities
We stand in solidarity with our brutalized colleague and reiterate our commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of all citizens.
