In a communiqué released on the 24th of October 25, 2019, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) through its President, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN made its position known on the recent kidnap of the Honorable Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Akure Division.
The communiqué in respect of the sad event which was titled “KIDNAP OF HONORABLE JUSTICE ABDU DOGO OF THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT OF NIGERIA” is now well circulated among lawyers in the country. The NBA condemns the kidnap and calls on law enforcement and security agencies to secure the immediate release of the said Federal Judge.
The communiqué stated that Honorable Justice Abdu Dogo was traveling from Abuja to His Lordship’s station in Akure when he was abducted by criminals with his driver on Tuesday, 22 October 2019 at a border town between Edo and Ondo States. It was stated that the kidnappers have demanded for the sum of N50m ransom for his release. The NBA calls on governments at all levels to wake up to security challenges that pervade the country.
