I served with Chukwuka Ikwuazom along with some other great and noble lawyers in the NBA, Lagos branch executive committee between 2017-2019. As the chairman of the Premier Bar then, Chukwuka Ikwuazom led the executive committee in adding values to the branch through outstanding and commendable innovations to wit: presentation of monthly treasurer’s report where the financial reports of the branch were made available to all for discussions at the meeting (this engendered financial transparency), trainings organized for lawyers at our monthly general meeting done by industry experts in diverse areas of legal practice to improve our legal practice, prioritization of the welfare of lawyers, celebration of very senior members of the branch etc.
I am persuaded without any iota of doubt that when given the opportunity to lead the Nigerian Bar Association as the President, Chukwuka Ikwuazom will be able to replicate the successes made during his tenure as the Premier Bar chairman, bring to bear his practice expertise and experience, and actualise the goals set out in his manifesto. We all need a Bar that we can be proud of and we all need a leadership that will prioritise our individual and collective interests. Once again the opportunity to bring about a positive change at the Bar lies before us–let’s vote Chukwuka Ikwuazom as NBA President.
