Dear Young Lawyer,
With the way clients have become tired of lawyers, judges and litigation, it is wisdom that we start developing ourselves in other forms of dispute resolution avenues, and law services delivery.
I don’t know about you, but I am tired of doing a case that the claim is not more than 500k and yet, we would be in court for more than 1 year, 8 months. Clients are even more tired and are resorting to ADR.
One wise man said “follow the money, and not your passion, when you get the money, spend it on your passion.” However, the wisest counsel is “move with the cheese” (better find the book WHO MOVED MY CHEESE? and read it before the end of this week).
Our seniors have long given us the clue when they said we should no longer be addressed as Barristers (because what we do is far beyond advocacy from the Bar).
Get money from non-litigation services (for that’s where the cheese has moved to) then enter court for pleasure and fame (for that is where you can easily get the popularity you need).
Do you know where the cheese in law would move to in 10 years time, taking digi-law, tech-law and e-law services into consideration?
My name is Earl, and I am Alright
