Human Rights Lawyer, Emperor Gabriel Ogbonna, Esq. has been granted bail on liberal terms by the Federal High Court today, 18th August, 2020, after 6 months of incarceration. His bail is being perfected.
He was granted bail by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja. The information was contained in a statement credited to the Chairman of the NBA, Abuja Branch, Mr. Bulus Y. Asten who has been in the front lines clamouring for the release of Mr. Ogbonna amongst many other lawyers.
Mr. Asten took time to thank the team of lawyers led by Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN and A. A. Malik SAN. Other members of the team include the NBA Bwari Branch Chairman, Clement Chukwuemeka, Nkem Okoro, Obioma Ezenwobodo, Mofe Ogbe (Unity Bar. Vice Chair), Oluwatosin Olufon (Unity Bar Legal Adviser), Lawrence Umudu and a host of other members of the Branch.
He also appreciated Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Mr. Olumide Akpata (NBA President Elect) Chairs Emeritus, Messrs. Ezenwa Anumnu and Folarin Aluko, Mr. Joseph Onu (Jagaban) and Mr. Kunle Edun for their sustained efforts towards ensuring that Mr. Ogbonna gained his liberty.
