Today, the 20th of June, 2021 Fathers’ Day is celebrated internationally. What it means is that the whole world is celebrating Fathers’ day.

Each and everyone of us has a father in his or her life either as a) Biological Father: b) Spiritual Father; c) Political Father (aka God Father); d) Business Father (aka Mentor); e) Step Father; f) Adopted Father, g) Reverend Father etc.

A Father is supposed to be the natural leader in any endeavor or any circumstances humanity is involved in. Therefore, the father is expected to be available. The reality is many fathers are absent in time of need. A school of thought has argued that it was because Adam was not available that Eve listened to the Devil, collected the evil Apple from him and shared same with Adam thereby causing the world eternal death.

At the FIDA Lagos Chapter Dinner held yesterday, the 19th of June, 2021 at White Stone Event Centre, Billings Way, Ikeja, Lagos State to round off the 2021 Law Week one Ajibade Shalom Anjolaoluwa who was adjudged the best pupil in her school, Aiyetoro African Church Primary School, Makoko, Lagos State was presented with a cheque of N50,000. I observed that the father was absent. I felt his presence would have made the occasion more grandeur. I may be wrong.

The cash prize meant so much to the young Ajibade and her mum that tears of joy were shed in the course of the presentation. The lesson here is as Fathers we should be present when we are needed.

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY and I got these from a dear colleague on why MEN are important:

  1. You can’t spell (Madam) without the (Adam) in it; 2. Neither can you spell (Woman) without the (Man); 3. You also cannot spell (Female) without the (Male); 4. Nor can you spell (She) without the (He); 5. You most definitely cannot spell (Mrs) without the (Mr) and 6. Finally, in prayers, we continue to say (A-men).

The above message encapsulates our importance. Therefore the responsibilities thrust upon us by our creator is what make us fathers. I pray that Almighty God grants us the grace to live responsibly in Jesus name. Amen

Once again Happy Fathers’ day dear Friends.
