The District Head of Mashio in Yobe State, Isa Mai Buba has been abducted by gunmen.
Buba, according to village sources, was whisked off from his house in Mashio, Fune Local Government Area of the state.
The Nation reported that a family source said that the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family.
The incident was said to have happened at about 10pm on Saturday night.
Police said they have launched a manhunt for the gunmen with a view to rescuing the traditional leader and bringing his assailants to book.
Command’s spokesman Dungus Abdulkareem in a statement confirmed the incident, saying that the kidnappers attacked the district head’s house with “heavy firearms and disappeared with him into the thin air.”
