At the Lagos NBA Branch’s monthly meeting, the Chairman brought up once again, the issue of the use of the High Court Foyer for its meetings following the electricity shut down at exactly 4: 00 pm during the April meeting. The electricity was restored after about 5 minutes.
The Chairman explained that the Branch was still not having a smooth sail with the Judiciary on the use of the Foyer for the Branch’s meetings. He explained that after several strenuous conditions given by the Judiciary and met by the Branch, the Branch was still not having it good with the authority. The latest was that the Branch could not have its meetings beyond 4: 00 pm. And that a minute beyond 4: 00 pm would attract an extra fee of N10, 000. There was a murmur amongst members. The Chairman allowed members to say their mind on the matter. The most significant and the last contribution on the matter was that of Chief Emeka Ngige, SAN. He suggested that we abide and tolerate with the current administration till June 10, 2019 when the current Chief Judge would retire. He explained that it was not the first time that the Branch would experience such and that in this case, the Branch should endure till 10th of June 2019. “Anything that has a beginning must have an end. Let us calm down till June,” the amiable Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated.
