It has come to my attention, the burning of the Bar Centre and the High Court of Abia State, Ohafia Judicial Division as a result of the fracas between the youths of the community youths and the Nigeria Police in Ohafia, Abia State and I condemn the acts in their entirety.
I was informed that a police man shot a youth in the community and the said youth dies from the gunshot injuries. And subsequently, the event led to the clash between the youth of the community and the police and the ensuing destruction of the Bar centre and the High Court of Abia State, Ohafia judicial Division.
We should be seen to take proactive measures to ensure that situations do not escalate as such that has happened in Ohafia. I take this opportunity to call on the Elders in the community, the security agencies and senior lawyers in Abia State to delve into the matter and ensure that peace reigns and also to see to the welfare of the lawyers that might have been affected by the incident.
