Mbamala Chukwuemeka, Esq., has been cleared to contest in the forthcoming NBA national elections for the office of the Treasurer.
In a statement made available to lawyerwaka.com, he stated as follows –
“I humbly wish to thank the members of the Election Appeal Committee. Usman Sule SAN, (Chairman), Mrs Folashade Ali SAN (Alternate Chair) Dr. Agada Elachi SAN, Adizua Okoroafor Esq, Matthew Osume Esq. Amina Senchi (Mrs). and Stella Owu (Secretary) for recognizing my eligibility and clearing me to contest for the position of the TREASURER in the forthcoming election. I appreciate the thorough review of the appeal.
“I appreciate their broadminded approach to dispensing fair justice even though heaven falls.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to very senior Lawyers, Distinguished Learned friends, and to all my supporters home and abroad who stood by me during the period of disqualification (affliction). Your support and solidarity were invaluable, and I am deeply thankful for your unwavering belief in me
“I thank the administration of Olu Akpata, immediate past President of NBA for initiating, for the first time a separate appeal committee different from the election committee during his tenure.
“The Electoral Committee in paragraph v of their letter of disqualification stated” It is given your failure to fulfill the requirement of the constitution detailed above that the ECNBA disqualified your candidacy for the position of Treasurer in the forthcoming election.
“Dissatisfied with the decision of the Electoral Committee, I appealed against the decision of ECNBA on the grounds of “ERROR IN LAW”
“Appeal committee in their broadminded approach, thoroughly reviewed the decision of ECNBA and allowed my appeal.
The National Officers Election Appeal Committee has proved that they are the last hope of a disqualified candidate in the NBA National elections.
“With the level of calls and goodwill that have been pouring in via phone calls, sms and emails, further demonstrates that this Bar is United for me to take the Association’s Treasury to a safer and dignified position for the betterment of all with the humane support of whoever emerges as the next President.
