Today, the YIAGA Africa held its Run to Win Townhall meeting as a platform to engage youths candidates and the leadership of political parties ahead of the February 2022 FCT Area Council Elections.

Juliet Isi Ikhayere appreciated her party for the platform given to run for an elective position as well as commending the party’s interest in seeing that young women and youths are given equally opportunities to run for elective positions.

These individuals run with the vision that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) believes in which are; bridging the gap between the young and the old there by capitalizing on the creativity of the youths and wisdom of its elders, promote vision- driven youths and goal oriented individuals in order to effectively deliver their mandate.

She also made mention of certain challenges which includes lack of finance and adequate manpower to drive the vision across board.
She noted that it will be a huge step in the right direction if all youths and elders come together to support a candidate whose vision aligns with the good of the nation and redeeming our future rather than focusing on voting just the party. She appealed for creative thinkers, manpower and financial supports to drive home the vision.”

Amongst others present at the event was Mrs. Ndidi Okafor, Head, Voters Education and Publicity, INEC. While encouraging other Aspirants, she commended Barr. Juliet Isi Ikhayere, for being the only female candidate in her ward and encouraged her to keep being Dogged, Patient, Tactical, have Integrity and never shy away from the media as a lot of women do”. She further emphasized that “Your words when spoken would have a counter effect to negative words said about you and so take adequate advantage of the media”.

Finally, The Event organizers (YIAGA Africa) assured the participants of its support towards encouraging youths and women participation in politics and seeing that the Not too Young to Run Act is being implemented in Nigeria.
