On the joyous occasion of his 60th birthday, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers are uniting to celebrate an exceptional teacher, mentor, learned colleague, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a gentleman par excellence, Prof. Yemi Akinseye-George, SAN.
Born in 1963 in Ondo State, Nigeria, Prof. Akinseye-George’s journey has been marked by remarkable contributions to society. This learned gentleman began in the mid-80s when he obtained his LLB and LLM from the University of Lagos. In 1986, he was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His early career was distinguished by his commitment to legal education, becoming a senior lecturer at the University of Ibadan in 1989.
Yemi Akinseye George’s dedication to legal scholarship took him to the Davis Centre at Princeton University in 1997-1998, where he conducted groundbreaking research on corruption and constitutionalism in Africa. In 2003, he embraced a new challenge as Special Adviser to two (2) Ministers of Justice and Attorneys-General of Nigeria, all the while continuing to contribute to legal scholarship. His commitment to the legal profession reached new heights in December 2004 when he was appointed a professor of public law at Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo State. In July 2012, he achieved a remarkable milestone by being appointed a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
To commemorate this milestone, a Thanksgiving Service and Book Presentation will be held in honor of Prof. Yemi Akinseye George, SAN on Saturday, 30th September 2023, at 10 am at the New Covenant Church, Gudu Abuja.
