The news went viral at about 5:00 p.m. GMT yesterday, 21st of January 2020 within the social media caucuses of lawyers that the Publisher and Blogger of popular law blog, Halima Abiola was invited by the Police and was detained in respect of an article she published about Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) at CID Alagbon, Ikoyi Lagos.
It was gathered that the Secretary of the Lagos NBA, Mr Moshood Abiola sent one his lawyers to the Police Station and also that the husband of the Publisher along with some lawyers from the Ikeja Branch of the NBA also went to the CID Alagbon to intervene in the matter.
Our source stated that she was questioned on the published article by the Police. A circular sent to lawyers’ social media platforms credited to the Publisher confirmed that she was indeed invited by the police and questioned. The Secretary of the Lagos NBA stated that she has been released and same was confirmed in the said circular that she has been granted administrative bail by the Police.
It was stated that that investigation is still going on as she was told to report to the Police station today Wednesday, 22nd of January 2020. She took the opportunity to thank everyone who had supported her in the matter and enjoined her professional colleagues to still look out for her.
